In the election of 1860, Abraham Lincoln ran for president as well as many other candidates. He was an abolitionist, someone who is against slavery, as everybody knows. Because he was an abolitionist, his name wasn't put on the ballot in the South of the country. However, Lincoln still won the election of 1860 and this infuriated the whole South. Everyone thought that Lincoln could not win the election if nobody in the whole south voted for him but, surprising everyone, Lincoln still won. What seems to be so bad about this? Well, this caused everyone to be mad, leading South carolina to Secede from the Union followed by the majority of the south eventually.
